QUAIL SPRINGS RESIDENCE  JOSHUA TREE, CA

RENOVATION, 2018

3 bed · 2 bath · 1700 SF

When Los Angeles interior designer, Julia Chasman, bought this 1960's cabin on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park, it had been neglected for decades and had a number of illegal additions and renovations. We helped turn the awkward floor plan into a modern, highly functional space for large gatherings, and also managed the process from permitting to contractor selection and construction oversight.

The original shed roof cabin over the living space provided a good starting point to maintain some mid-century character. We added a full bath with a tub under a skylight for star gazing, and added another skylight over a small office nook for daytime sky gazing. The new master suite frames a western view and a glimpse of the mature joshua trees on the property.

Interior design is by Julia Chasman.

The property is available for short-term rental here.
