Duane Smith, Founder and Principal Designer

Duane was born in rural Newfoundland, Canada, dabbling with building blocks and dreaming of houses as a tot. In his late teens he moved to Ontario to attend design school, and then on to Germany to study sustainable architecture at the Bauhaus in Dessau.

In addition to his award-winning product design work, he has completed design-build residential and retail projects throughout the United States and Canada, and has been featured in numerous global design and architecture magazines, books and editorials.

Duane’s design work is contemporary yet comfortable, with thought and sensitivity not only to his clients’ desires, but also to their time and money. Influenced by his study at the Bauhaus and his vegan lifestyle, Duane’s work is also highly sensitive to sustainability and environmental best practices.
